Textile Collection Program on Campus
The Office of Sustainability is excited to announce a new partnership with Chicago Textile Recycling! This program expands our ability to collect textiles from the campus community while also providing funding to support the University’s sustainability initiatives
Students, Faculty, and Staff are invited to drop off items in collection bins at two locations within the Harre Union:
- North entrance (near the Mail Center)
- East entrance (near Founder’s Table)
These bins accept the following items:
- Clothing- Shirts, pants, hats, socks, underwear, etc
- Shoes- Paired shoes only (please tie shoelaces together)
- Textiles- Bedding, towels, curtains, washcloths, etc
- Soft Toys- Stuffed animals and plush toys
- Damaged and torn items ARE accepted and will be recycled
- Click here for a full list of accepted items
Every item you donate helps divert waste from landfills! Items in good condition are resold or donated, while worn-out materials are recycled into useful products like cleaning cloths, furniture stuffing, and insulation.
If you have any questions, please contact us at sustainenergy@valpo.edu.
