Summer Reading Group
The Language Resource Center will host an informal group this summer for those interested in reading and discussing Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste, The Origins of Our Discontents. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate in a conversation about the ideas presented in this book which examines the concept of caste as a way to understand the origins of American race relations. Wilkerson’s approach stems from her researched exploration of caste systems in other countries, specifically Nazi Germany and India. The group will likely meet three times this summer, beginning in late May. To express your interest or for more information, contact Carol Goss by May 15 at carol.goss@valpo.edu.
