Student Concerns? We’re Here to Help
Some Dear Colleagues,
Greetings from the Dean of Students office. It is my hope that the academic semester is off to a good start for you.
Each year, my office receives various requests from faculty & staff regarding assistance with reporting or addressing students of concern. These requests may range from reporting unhealthy behaviors to advice on how to support students with specific needs or accommodations. My staff and I are always happy to assist and serve in this supportive role.
In that spirit of collaborative support, a campus committee known as the Care and Concerns Committee was established. The purpose of the Care and Concerns Committee is to provide faculty, staff, and students with a centralized place to report concerns about students who are experiencing a situation that is impeding their ability to be fully engaged on campus and/or inside the classroom. The Care & Concerns Committee consists of professional staff members across campus who are able to assist in providing information and support to a student in need. The committee collaborates with one another to develop a support plan for connecting students with appropriate resources.
If you have any students of concern you would like to inform either my office or our Care and Concerns committee about, please feel free to utilize one of the following communication options.
- Call Student Life at 219-464-5411
- Email: Dean.Students@valpo.edu
- Email: Care.Concern@valpo.edu
- Complete the online Care and Concerns Report Form
As we continue into this academic year, if there is anything our team or I can do to support you and your work in the classroom and on campus, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Wishing You Blessings and a Successful Academic Year.
