The concert is free and open to the public,

The Chapel of the Resurrection will ring with historic Lutheran music by Heinrich Schütz, J.S. Bach and Felix Mendelssohn as well as recent compositions by Abbie Betinis and Robert Hobby. The concert will feature Bach’s cantata  “Nimm, was dein ist, und gehe hin.” The audience is invited to join in singing hymns from the rich tradition of Lutheran hymnody including “A Mighty Fortress” and “O Day Full of Grace” and contemporary Lutheran hymns by Susan Palo Cherwien and Marin Jacobson. Guest organist John Schwandt will inspire the gathering through improvised and newly-composed hymn arrangements. Valparaiso University’s Chorale and Bach Choir will be joined by brass and strings including Diego Piedra, violinist and conductor of the Valparaiso University Symphony Orchestra. The concert marks the beginning of Bach Institute Outreach to Lutheran churches and schools in Wisconsin, Missouri, and Indiana. The full schedule is available here.

Sarah Glenn DeMaris, Senior Research Professor in German, recently presented "Das Unterlindener Schwesternbuch: Werdegang einer Handschrift im Bodenseeraum" (The Unterlinden Sisterbook: Origins of a Lake Constance Manuscript) at the Salem Monastery and Palace complex by Lake Constance, Germany. The presentation was part of a conference about the cultural and literary landscape at Lake Constance in the late medieval period.

Julie Peller Recognized

Chemistry Professor Julie Peller was named Northwest Indiana Influential Women Association’s 2025 STEM Influential Woman of the Year for her work on the remediation of microplastics in water.
