If you need to receive a OneCard, you need to come to the IT Help Desk in person. We are located on the bottom floor of the Library, our hours today are 8AM-5PM. If this is your first one card, it will be free of charge. Any further questions please let us know. (Also please bring some form of ID, drivers license, etc for verification).<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>It is important to keep your card safe and functioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Card<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The OneCard is your key card to various buildings on campus. All students have&nbsp;access to computer labs, sports and recreational facilities, the Harre Union, parking ramp, academic buildings, and 24\/7 access to your assigned residence hall. Residential undergraduate students have access to all other residence halls from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.. Any other required access is at the discretion of the supervisors of the buildings you might need to access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Library Card<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your OneCard also acts as your library card at the Christopher Center Library and at the Law School Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Three Accounts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dining Dollars \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Your Dining Dollars\/Meal Plan Account, which is stored on your OneCard, enables food purchase and other consumables from any facility operated by Dining Services. Students living in a residence hall will have the required meal plan account automatically activated upon\u00a0class registration confirmation but additional funds can be added anytime through <a href=\"https:\/\/apps2.valpo.edu\/resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DataVU Self-Service.<\/a> Just select &#8220;Housing and Meal Plans&#8221; under the Campus Services section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on Parkhurst Dining, visit the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/valpo.edu\/student-life\/dining\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/valpo.eriwebdev.com\/student-life\/dining\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Valpo Dining Meal Plan page.\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bookstore Credit \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Using&nbsp;your OneCard at the University Bookstore, located in the Harre Union, allows you to charge course related materials (i.e., textbooks, computer software packages, school supplies) to your student account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apparel and logo items are not eligible to be purchased with Bookstore Credit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Online purchases must be picked up at the University Bookstore with your OneCard. &nbsp;Shipping to an external address is not permitted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can view your account anytime on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/datavu.valpo.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>DataVU<\/strong>.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/valpobookstore.bncollege.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bookstore website<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;for more information regarding textbooks and course materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beacon Bucks \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Beacon Bucks is an optional account on your OneCard that acts similar to a debit card on campus. Add money to your Beacon Bucks account and spend it at Dining Services, the University Bookstore, Fitness Center, and many other services on campus. You can also use Beacon Bucks\u00a0off campus\u00a0at various restaurants and establishments like Jimmy Johns and Dominos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lost Your OneCard?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have misplaced or lost your OneCard immediately&nbsp;contact the IT Help Desk by email or by phone at <a href=\"tel:\/\/+12194645678\">219.464.5678<\/a>. We will deactivate&nbsp;your OneCard so that no one will be able to access the accounts or&nbsp;the key card access on your OneCard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u00a0may come into the IT Help Desk and request a temporary card while you attempt to find your original, or you can purchase a replacement OneCard for $15, credit, debit or Apple Pay only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The temporary ID will function just like an ordinary OneCard\u2013all services available on the OneCard and all of the cardholder\u2019s accounts will be transferred to the temporary ID.\u00a0<strong>Temporary ID cards may not be used for package pick-up at the mail center.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The temporary ID is not intended to be a replacement ID.\u00a0 Students must replace their OneCard if they do not find it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After hours, students may see VUPD to be issued a temporary ID.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Care for your OneCard<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The cardholder is responsible for the care of the card.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The card should not be handled roughly or stored in warm or hot places (i.e. behind auto sun visors, in glove boxes, on dashboards, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your card should not be kept in proximity of magnetic devices at anytime (i.e. television sets, stereo speakers, bulk tape erasers, radio transmitters, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not attach to key chains or carry unprotected in pockets, purses, backpacks, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not affix stickers, pins or any other alterations or modifications to your OneCard ID.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not punch hole(s) into your OneCard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cards should never be placed back to back with magnetic strips touching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Damaged cards will\u00a0result from negligence or improper care (i.e. putting the card through the dryer, using the card to scrape the windshield, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is your responsibility to protect your OneCard ID at all times. If your OneCard is lost or stolen, you must report it immediately to the IT Help Desk at&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:\/\/+12194645678\">219.464.5678<\/a>&nbsp;or VUPD at&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:\/\/+12194645430\">219.464.5430<\/a>. In the event that the loss is not reported to the appropriate officials, Valparaiso University will not be responsible for any charges&nbsp;incurred during that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rights and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Each new student\/faculty\/staff member is issued a University OneCard photo ID. This card is intended to last the duration of your years at Valparaiso University. It is the cardholder\u2019s responsibility to protect and maintain the condition of their card. The cardholder is responsible for all uses of the card and is liable for loss or damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Valparaiso University OneCard entitles the cardholder to all privileges associated with their status. Rights and privileges associated with the OneCard are contingent upon active status as a student, faculty, or staff member.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any person who alters or intentionally mutilates a University OneCard ID (including but not limited to applying stickers, pins, or punching various holes in the card, etc.), or who uses the OneCard of another or allows their OneCard to be used by another, may be subject to disciplinary action. Valparaiso University shall not be held liable for any loss, cost, damage, or expense, whether physical, financial, psychological, or otherwise, suffered or incurred by the cardholder in connection with, arising out of, or in any way related to the use or attempted use of the cardholder\u2019s OneCard by the cardholder or any other third party.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your OneCard ID must be presented for identification purposes at the request of an agent of the University acting in the performance of their duties (i.e. VU Police Officer, Residence Hall Director or Coordinator, Ticket Takers, Ushers, Examination Proctors, etc.). Any cardholder refusing a request of University identification may be subject to disciplinary action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Your OneCard ID may be confiscated by the University if\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your OneCard ID is in the possession of an individual other than yourself, and that person attempts to represent himself\/herself as you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You present your OneCard ID as a valid student, but you are not valid for the term of registration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are withdrawn from the University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Unauthorized use, sharing, alteration, or duplication of your OneCard ID for any purpose will result in immediate confiscation. Rights and privileges associated with your OneCard are nontransferable. Your Valparaiso University OneCard ID acts as a stored value account, not as a credit card. No negative balances (with the exception of the purchase of textbooks from the University Bookstore), cash withdrawals, or cash advances are permitted. Under no circumstances may alcoholic beverages be purchased with your OneCard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is your OneCard?
