Nicholas Denysenko, Emil and Elfiede Jochum University Professor and Chair and Professor of Theology, delivered a paper titled “Orthodoxy and the War in Ukraine: Obstacles to Unity and Opportunities for Healing” at the Religion and War in Ukraine conference at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, on March 16, 2024.
Joseph A. Bognar, the Frederick A. and Mazie N. Reddel Professor of Music, was the featured guest artist for the conference “European Artists in Postwar Exile” sponsored by the Center for European Studies at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He performed solo piano works of György Ligeti, György Kurtág, Unsuk Chin, and a world premiere work by Navid Bargrizan. He repeated the program three days later at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. While on both campuses he led masterclasses for pianists and composition students.
