Forensic Entomology uses data derived from insects to assist the criminal justice system. Blow flies (the most beautiful insects) typically arrive at a body shortly after death, and lay eggs. The timing of their life cycle and egg laying are used to provide estimations of the post mortem interval, or time since death.
