Call for Nominees: Student Emcee and Testimonial Speaker for President’s Breakfast for Benefactors and Scholars
Dear Valpo Community,
We are excited to share a special opportunity for two of our exceptional students to serve as the featured speakers at the President’s Breakfast for Benefactors and Scholars, held during Homecoming and Family Weekend on October 25, 2025.
This beloved event honors the generosity of our donors and provides a meaningful platform for students to express their gratitude to those who make their Valpo experience possible. The event also serves as an important moment for President José Padilla to connect with alumni, highlight key campus developments, and inspire continued support for the University’s mission.
We are looking to fill the following speaking roles:
Student Emcee:
The Student Emcee will:
- Guide the flow of the event smoothly and professionally.
- Introduce speakers, including President José Padilla and other essential guests.
- Share brief, inspiring remarks about the impact of donor support on the student body.
- Engage with a diverse audience of donors, alumni, faculty, staff, and fellow students.
Student Testimonial Speaker:
The Student Testimonial Speaker will:
- Deliver an 8-10 minute speech
- Express gratitude for donors of the University
- Share their Valpo Story. For example- What led them to choose Valpo? What are they involved in on campus? What makes Valpo so special?
- Emphasize how scholarship support has impacted their Valpo Experience
Eligibility:
To be eligible the student must:
- Be a current student at Valparaiso University.
- Have strong public speaking skills and a compelling personal presence.
- Be comfortable with live event management and audience engagement.

Submission Deadline:
All nominations must be submitted by September 20, 2025.
Selection Process:
A committee composed of University staff and faculty will review all submissions and select the student emcee based on the clarity, presence, and confidence of their message and their ability to engage and inspire an audience.
This is an opportunity to play a vital role in a significant University event, share your story, and represent your fellow students. We look forward to hearing from our amazing Valpo students!
